- Abstract
Aggression, aggressive behaviors, and violence are common phenomena in human beings including children, adolescents, and young adults. Aggression is a symptom of various disorders that can be medical, psychiatric, and combinations of these categories, such as substance use disorders. This discussion provides definitions of aggression and violence as well as looks at etiologic concepts. Management of aggression depends on the underlying contribution disorders and includes behavioral approaches as well as potentially, pharmacologic interventions.
