An essay is presented that explores the different kinds of polimateric techniques of sculptures in the Middle Ages. It notes that the polimateric techniques have reflected on the important aspects of the medieval approach to art, including the accentuation of polychromy and the aim to decorate the work of art. Among the polimateric techniques found in sculpture include polimateric sculpture by superimposition and polimateric by juxtaposition.
