- Abstract
The authors examine the use of biomarkers for acute kidney injury (AKI). They discuss the limitations of using biomarkers in the diagnosis and prognosis of AKI and the need for new AKI biomarkers to perform well in patients with chronic comorbidities. They also describe the outcomes of several studies that have used biomarkers as a clinical decision tool.
