The article focuses on the plant domestication in India which is considered as a center for agricultural domestication. The topics mentioned include the neolithic transition of India that shaped the cultural and ecological setting of the subcontinent, the search for the origins and spread of early agriculture, and Ganges plains of India considered as center for independent plant domestication focusing on the Indian subspecies of rice.
