- Abstract
There were analyzed 100 Latin American scientific journals of Legal Sciences with 19,826 articles published between 2005 and 2019. The objective is to offer a comprehensive perspective of the discipline based on the scientific output that circulates in non-commercial Open Access channels (Diamond OA), highlighting its publication and collaboration dynamics. The journals were identified from some of the main global Open Access platforms: DOAJ, Latindex, Redalyc and SciELO. Metadata was obtained based on Redalyc, OJS and SciELO. The analysis is based on automatic information retrieval and a complementary normalization strategy. A tendency to publish mainly at the national level and, secondly, at the institutional level is documented; as well as little presence of the Caribbean and Central America; and a growing trend of scientific collaboration, mainly driven by institutional networks. It is suggested that currently the communication of knowledge in the Latin American Legal Sciences takes place predominantly from a Diamond Open Access model and in this context, challenges of interoperability, retrieval and organization of bibliometric information are identified, in articulation with a growing legitimization of commercial publishing universes.
