The article presents information on the crayfish called Cambarus veteranus, which can be readily identified by its lanceolate rostrum with orange or red margins. Topics discussed include its conservation status and protection, range and distribution, and historical sampling information and locality data in the Upper Guyandotte River basin. Also mentioned are its reproduction and threats, which include mining, sedimentation and logging.
