- Abstract
This is a survey of the different approaches studied by a number of airlines in the past few years to attempt to optimize the allocation of crews to flights. The approach is usually one of integer programming with 0-1 variables, the matrix of coefficients having a very special form. The survey covers the generation, costing, reduction, and optimization of such matrices.
