- Authors
BENSON, GEOFFREY C.
- Abstract
The article offers poetry criticism of the poem "The Cattle Problem," by Archimedes. It explores the mathematical problem it poses, as well as the poem's meaning and tone, determining how it is organized, its genre and how Homer is reimagined by the author. It notes the use of words in new ways and poetic skill of the author based on its structure. It discusses the alteration between passages of direct address and passages of description as the unifying organizational principle of the poem.
