- Abstract
Introduction: Occurrence of foreign body in the ear is a norm and frequently encountered in emergency department. Most of the time the act of removal of the foreign body goes by without any underlying complication but at times the nature and the impact of the foreign body in the ear can lead to difficulties in removal. Method: Case report. Result: We present a case of foreign body in the right ear in a 12 year old boy whom required removal under general anaesthesia and developed perforation of the tympanic membrane as part of the complication. Conclusion: It is a misconception to assume that the removal process would be straight forward as many of the cases require expertise in removal and furthermore some of them require removal under general anaesthesia.
