An essay is presented on narratives of violence related to racialized mass imprisonment from the U.S. law and society in context to article by law professor Robert Cover. It presents an analysis of law's violence and the rise of the "strong state" in the 1970s with reference to works of law professor Stuart Hall and his book "Policing the Crisis: Mugging, the State, and Law and Order".
