- Abstract
The article discusses a study by Jeremy Levy and colleagues which showed that electronic properties of the interfaces in heterostructures can be controlled with nanoscale precision. The study demonstrated nanoscale control over the lateral confinement of a quasi-two-dimensional electron gas at the interface between lanthanum aluminate and strontium titanate. It is stated that both oxides have perovskite structures, which means they contain two positive ions with different sizes held together by negative ions. The challenge to researchers is cited.
