- Title

- Authors

- Abstract
An editorial expresses the view that while extubation failure is common in patients with acute brain injury, the use of noninvasive respiratory support (NIPPV or high-flow nasal cannula [HFNC]) to reduce the risk of reintubation in these patients. It mentions the need for research, controlled trial, to evaluate a implementation of postextubation prophylactic noninvasive ventilatory support in patients with acute brain injury to improve care for this vulnerable population.
