- Abstract
Cardiovascular association in celiac disease includes premature atherosclerosis and congenital heart diseases, including atrial septal defect.[1] Celiac disease has been shown to reduce aortic compliance and increase aortic stiffness index. As per one of the principles of clinical medicine, Occam's razor, all the manifestations in this patient can be explained by a single diagnosis of celiac disease associated with Takayasu arteritis and atrial septal defect. 2) Anemia in patients with Takayasu arteritis can be secondary to disease activity or anemia of chronic disease, or due to gastrointestinal involvement such as inflammatory bowel disease or celiac disease.
