- Abstract
A 76-year-old Japanese woman with no history of cancer or prior neurological disease was admitted to our hospital with progressive slurred speech and left-sided ataxia for three days. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed multifocal abnormal lesions in extensive T2-weighted and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery images (Fig 1A,C). The patient was negative for serum rheumatoid factor and antibodies including antinuclear, anti-SS-A, anti-SS-B, anti-DNA, anti-Sm and anti-RNP antibodies, perinuclear anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies and cytoplasmic anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies.
