- Abstract
The article analyzes the importance of Neighborhood Associations in Spain during the final years of the Francoist dictatorship. These associations played a fundamental role in improving the living conditions of citizens and in the democratization process. During the transition to democracy, numerous associations were created in Almería and throughout the country, with the aim of achieving changes that would benefit towns and cities. The book presents a detailed study of neighborhood associations in Almería, documenting their demands and the improvements achieved. It also highlights the legitimacy of the actions carried out by these associations, which were based on democratically made decisions in meetings convened for all residents. In 1992, Spain organized the Universal Exposition in Seville and the Barcelona Olympic Games, as well as commemorations related to the Fifth Centenary of the Discovery of America. These events sought to achieve political goals in Spanish territory.
