- Title
A Trial Judge on the Supreme Court.
- Authors
PRATT, ROBERT W.
- Abstract
The article presents newly appointed Supreme Court Justice Sonia Motomayor as a Justice who actually tried cases as trial judge and participated in jury selection. It cites the Skilling v. U.S. where she stated that she would have reversed the Fifth Circuit in Skillibg's fair-trail claim based on weaknesses in the trial court's voir dire procedure. It points out that her dissenting opinion offers valuable insight to her judicial personality and experiences of a real judge. She serves as a federal district judge from August 12, 1991 to October 13, 1998.
