- Abstract
A poetry criticism compares and contrasts of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's "Wine of Cyprus" and Emily Dickinson's "I taste a liquor." Topics considered include anacreontic poetry, the influence of Browning on Dickinson, nineteenth-century poetry, and women poets of the period.A close reading exploring to motifs, themes, and metaphors used in both poems is presented.
