- Title
NARST Equity and Ethics Committee: A Call to Action.
- Authors
Barton, Angela Calabrese; Lee, Okhee
- Abstract
The article presents an editorial about the declining representation of different groups of people in areas of science due to the under-preparation of students in science education. The authors describe this trend in response to the Equity and Ethics Committee of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST). The authors believe that NARST needs to include more underrepresented groups, such as women and minorities, in its membership and leadership positions. They suggest making the racial and ethnic backgrounds of authors of articles in the "Journal of Research in Science Teaching" known to help bring about minority representation.
