- Abstract
The article looks at the topics discussed at the 57th Annual International Association of Emergency Managers conference held on November 2, 2009 in Orlando, Florida. According to Gerry Galloway, a professor of engineering at the University of Maryland, some of the factors that cause a greater risk of floods are climate change, population growth and the breakdown of levees and other flood control infrastructure. He states that a change in the behavior of the population is a must to minimize the risk of flooding.
