- Abstract
Double ‐ Decker Coordination Cages In their Communication on page 13122 ff., G. S. Hanan, D. K. Chand et al. report a “molecular double ‐ decker” type trinuclear coordination cage [Pd3(L)4](NO3)6, which is prepared by self ‐ assembly of an E ‐ shaped tris ‐ monodentate ligand, L, with PdII. The double ‐ decker cage could encapsulate two halide ions (fluoride, chloride, or bromide), one unit in each of the enclosures; however, entry of iodide was restricted. A new avenue is opened by this fresh architecture: the design and synthesis of several other double ‐ decker cages and utilization of their isolated cavities is likely to contribute to the progress of supramolecular coordination chemistry.
