- Abstract
The article discusses the publicity rights in virtual world. Right of publicity forbids unauthorized commercial use of a person's identity that includes use in advertisement and services. Trend in courts is to identify broad ways of person to be distinguished such as nicknames or catchphrases, voice, and visual similitude. Right to publicity exist in most states of U.S. to protect known people. Avatar not used in commercial profit may not apply right of publicity.
