The article discusses the development of the play "The Citizen Project" in relation to social conditions in South Bend, Indiana. Topics include the role of interviewing community members in the writing of the play, the reuse of a warehouse building as a theater in which the play was performed, and the relation of urban renewal policies to the governance of South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
