The article presents the result of two studies on pharmaceutical-based compounds for anti-fouling paint. The first study, which was led by Serena Teo and colleagues from the Marine Science Institute (TMSI) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), determined that several pharmaceutical compounds possessed nanopotent anti-fouling activities. The second study, led again by the TMSI team, focused on the ecotoxicity of pharmaceuticals in the marine environment.
