THE WRITING OF THE SEPTENARY COUPLET.
- Authors
Hill, Betty
- Abstract
The article presents information related to the writing style in the book "Catalogue of Manuscripts Containing Anglo-Saxon," by N.R. Ker. Ker notes the existence of an organized scriptorium at Christ Church in the twelfth century. The half-line arrangement of the couplet characterizes the "Conduct of life" in Bodleian library MS Digby 4. The only other example of this half-line arrangement of the Conduct survives in another Christchurch book, British Library, MS Royal 7.
