- Abstract
The article presents a study which investigates marine fish parasitism following chronic petroleum hydrocarbon exposure in the laboratory and in the Gulf of Alaska due to the Exxon Valdez oil spill. The study observes oil-treated adult Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) and longhorn sculpins (Myoxocephalus octodecemspinosus) obtained from Conception Bay, Newfoundland and Alaska. The results show the significant increase of trichodinid infections on the oil- treated fishes' fins.
