- Abstract
The armed conflict in Colombia has left consequences on mental health that have been documented by different investigations; Faced with this problem, the Colombian State has issued different regulations that seek comprehensive health care for the population that is victim of the armed conflict. The objective of this reflection article is to confront the government's legal actions for the comprehensive care of victims of the armed conflict and the strategies implemented to provide coverage to the population, evidencing the gaps between what is proclaimed in the laws and access to services. In mental health specifically, the starting point is to know public policies and then comment on their implementation based on official government data and reports and private research carried out by universities and study centers. The Psychosocial Care and Comprehensive Health Program for Victims (PAPSIVI) promises good results; However, its implementation has been highly questioned regarding its coverage and quality, which is why the Colombian regulations are well written, but poorly executed. The academic community must be called to impact public policies.
