- Abstract
The given document is an abstract from the Journal of Clinical & Translational Science. It includes three different research studies. The first study focuses on the role of Hedgehog signaling in breast cancer risk for non-Hispanic Black women. The researchers aim to identify protein-based biomarkers for Hedgehog signaling within myoepithelial cells of non-Hispanic Black women and create a biomarker risk model for triple negative breast cancer. The second study examines gender disparities in the acquisition of lower extremity prosthetics following major limb amputation. The researchers found that women face a longer time lag between amputation and prosthetic acquisition compared to men. The third study discusses the Appalachian Translational Research Network (ATRN) and its efforts to improve health in Appalachia through communication and collaboration among academic and community partners.
