This article discusses the continuing evolution of the law of insider trading in the U.S. It looks at the statutory underpinnings of insider trading and fundamentals of federal securities laws. It also explores the development of modern insider trading jurisprudence, highlighting the decision of the Supreme Court in the case Chiarella v. United States.
