- Abstract
The Inca trail (Inca Ñan), is approximately 5,200 km long" (González, 2020,p. 10) along the Andes Mountains, connecting six Andean countries, among which are Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru. In Colombia, The Inca trail is located between Ipiales (Rumichaca) and Pasto, corresponding to the first stretch of the Andean road. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO" (Colombia, Ministry of Culture, 2013, p.1). "The Qhapaq Ñan, in the northeastern section of the department of Nariño, Colombia, corresponds to a preliminary survey in the second stretch of the Andean road in Nariño, Colombia, which is located between the town of Pasto, to the Juanambu River (Guambuyaco, municipality of Taminango). It crosses the municipalities of Pasto, Nariño, Florida, Tambo, Peñol and Taminango. The aim of this study was to preliminarily demonstrate the existence of the continuity of the longitudinal Andean network of El Qhapaq Ñan, 15 km further to the northeast in the Department of Nariño, southern Colombia. During the research project, the transverse route to the Amazon and the transverse route to the coast, which led to the mining province of Barbacoas and in turn to the Pacific Ocean via the Patía River, were accidentally discovered. This work is based on the bibliography of the first chroniclers of the Indies in the 16th century, as well as on other research tools, among which: ethnolinguistic and open field laboratory studies through archival records, cartographic studies, interviews with preferably long-term inhabitants of the area under study. This research was carried out by me and my father Onésimo Pereira Vallejo (R.I.P.D.). As this is an unpublished work, there are no archaeological studies of the area at present. This is why in this preliminary research these works have been omitted, being necessary in the future to carry out archaeological exploration and excavation studies. The sources provided in this research constitute the initial evidence of the continuation of the longitudinal and transverse Andean route of the QhapaqÑan in the northeast of the department of Nariño, Colombia.
