- Title
FOREST TYPES IN NORTH-EASTERN SWITZERLAND.
- Abstract
The article presents a paper which described the types of vegetation found in the upper zones of tree-growth, as illustrated in the district of Zernez, where it is possible to trace the gradation from the larch-dominated forests of the Upper Engadine to the spruce forests of the Lower Engadine in Switzerland. It reveals that the mountain pine appears and alters the type of the vegetation, when descending through the step-formation. It also reveals that the zone of Larix and P. cembra is the highest belt of mixed coniferous forest in the district.
