- Abstract
Idiopathic hypercalciuria (IH) is a heterogenous disorder first described by Albright et al in 1953. It is characterized by normal blood calcium (Ca) but excretion urinary Ca > 4 mg/kg in 24 hours (normal 0. 1 mmol/Kg) and urine Ca/Cr > 0.21 under normal Ca uptake and no secondary factors. IH is not few in the clinic. It is reported that in adults 40 - 60% of urolithiasis are associated with IH, while in children only 2-5% of urolithiasis are associated with IH. However, serious osteoporosis associated with IH is seldom reported. We report a case of IH combined with osteoporosis in the Department of Endocrinology of our hospital.
