- Abstract
This document is a letter to the editor published in the journal Neurological Sciences. The letter describes a case of a 25-year-old girl who experienced a sudden onset of left hemianopia and left hypoesthesia. After undergoing various tests, it was determined that she had an embolic ischemic posterior stroke associated with a patent foramen ovale (PFO) with high-risk anatomical features. The letter discusses the challenges of understanding the role of PFO in stroke patients and emphasizes the importance of finding clues to define its pathogenetic role. The patient ultimately underwent PFO closure and did not experience any recurrent embolic events during the follow-up period.
