- Abstract
This document is a letter published in the journal Neurological Sciences. It describes a case of a 55-year-old man who was mistakenly given a double dose of a neuroleptic medication, leading to the development of Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS). The patient was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and treated with bromocriptine therapy and propofol-induced sedation, which resulted in improvement of symptoms. After awakening from sedation, the patient experienced jerks and muscle contractions consistent with a diagnosis of Propriospinal Myoclonus (PSM), a rare movement disorder. The letter emphasizes the challenges in diagnosing functional movement disorders like PSM and highlights the importance of clinical clues and electrophysiological examination for accurate diagnosis.
