High Frequency Trading: Review of Regulatory Initiatives in the Indian Capital Market.
- Authors
Kulkarni, Aseema Dake
- Abstract
Technological developments have evolved the financial markets through centuries. One such development in the recent years is high frequency trading which is commonly found in the capital markets across the globe. Though it adds liquidity to the market and tightens the bid ask spread with few other benefits, it has faced criticism and concerns due to varying reasons by market participants and regulators. Regulators across the globe are trying to have effective regulations to protect the market from any harm that high frequency trades might cause. This paper attempts to study the current regulatory initiatives in the Indian capital market regarding algorithmic trading in general and high frequency trading, in specific.
