- Abstract
This article analyzes three videos that are part the advertising campaign "If it is fake news, do not transmit", whose advertiser was the Brazilian Superior Electoral Court, in 2020. The pieces were produced for communication with the population about the risks of fake news for democracy, and the message used an analogy between fake news and virus transmission. The guest presenter was Atila Iamarino, a Brazilian biologist and youtuber. The multimodal approach aims to show that the social semiotic analysis of the composition of semiotic modes is insufficient for a more refined understanding. It is necessary to address the modulations within the selected and possible modes, ever considering certain technological and media conditions. It is also presented a schematic composition based in a decoupage of texts in modes and their modulations.
