- Authors
Goelz, Taylor
- Abstract
The article discusses the Roger Revelle Commemorative Lecture, which honors oceanographer Roger Revelle and his contributions to the study of the ocean and climate change. The lecture format was changed to a "fireside chat" featuring Margaret Leinen, director of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and Kathryn Sullivan, a NASA astronaut and former NOAA administrator. The chat focused on their experiences as women in the field of science and the challenges they faced. The article also highlights the need for greater diversity in the ocean science workforce and the importance of resilience in overcoming obstacles.
