- Abstract
An anterior open bite is a complex malocclusion due to varied aetiology. Many treatment modalities have been tested for open bite correction with varying degrees of success. Here we are discussing the case of a patient who presented with a history of previously treated acute rheumatic fever and a skeletal origin of anterior open bite with secondary tongue thrust habit. The patient had an underlying class II skeletal base with a vertical facial pattern. The use of invasive methods such as micro implants might have resulted in bacteremia, hence posterior intrusion was attempted with the use of lower posterior bite plane. A resolution of the open bite was seen within 4 months.
