- Abstract
This study aims at investigating the situation of visual reading outcomes of 1st - 5th grades Turkish Course in student workbook activities and the coherence between the activities and outcomes. In this study, visual reading outcomes in Primary Education Turkish Course Curriculum and those outcomes related with activities in "Turkish Course Student Workbooks" written by The Ministry of National Education in 2007 for 1st -5th grades were investigated through documentary analysis. For data analysis, descriptive analysis was conducted. According to the result of the study, it was determined that while some of the outcomes (such as "comments on pictures and photographs", "writes sentences and texts via starting from visuals", "knows the meaning of figures, symbols and signs") frequently took place in the activities in student workbooks, some of them (such as uses information and communication technologies to collect data) were not observed. Indeed it was seen that some of the outcomes (such as "questions the messages in advertisements", "interprets information, news and ideas which are given by mass communications, reads map and plan", "perceives the message given in caricatures.") took place in few activities.
