- Abstract
The article presents a report from the U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention regarding the incidence of tuberculosis (TB) cases reported in the U.S. Statistics show a 3.8% decline in the number of TB cases between 2007 and 2008. The 4.2 cases per 100,000 people are the lowest on record. The data was collected by the National TB Surveillance System. Foreign born persons and ethnic minorities continue to bear a disproportionate burden of TB cases in the U.S. Trends in the number of multidrug-resistant TB (MDR TB) cases are analyzed.
