- Abstract
The article discusses a study related to colour pattern variation in the Common Garter Snake (Thamnophis sirtalis). Topics include focus to compare colour patterns between T. sirtalis populations from coastal islands and Massachusetts mainland, species of coastal islands having more black pigment on the dorsal stripe as compared to snakes from the Massachusetts mainland, and results showing role of antipredator behaviours, thermoregulation and genetic drift towards coloration difference.
