- Abstract
The defendant GP failed to refer the claimant patient to the early pregnancy unit for specialist care and/or a diagnostic scan despite knowing that the claimant was at a higher-than-average risk of having an ectopic pregnancy. The claimant subsequently suffered a rupture of an ectopic pregnancy and a life-threatening haemorrhage resulting in the claimant being unable to conceive naturally.
