- Abstract
Starting from the Principles of the Olympic Charter, the article performs an extensive analysis of the principal (material, financial, social, political) reasons that have affected the organization of the Olympic Games in general, including situations that have distorted the concept of the movement imagined and materialized by Pierre de Coubertin. The study presents facts that have marked the initiation of the Olympic Games from their beginnings, in 1896, to the present day, also emphasizing the way in which the Romanian Olympic Committee has solved the problems raised by the Olympic Committees of the states directly involved.
