- Abstract
Ground surface deformation as consequence of underground mining operations has always been a phenomenon which can cause significant damage even after mining operations have ended in the concerned area. The constant observation of ground surface deformation within the limits of closed underground mining areas is, nowadays, of little interest for local authorities. This paper presents the effects on the environment, thus proving the necessity of constant observation of this phenomenon after the closure of the mines. Also, legal solutions concerning the observation of this phenomenon are presented with the purpose of creating a tool which can be used in land management policies.
