- Abstract
The survival and development of rice hispa, Dicladispa armigera (Olivier) was studied on four different cultivars of rice namely Taraori basmati, HKR 126, IR 64 and HKR 47 under screen house condition. The larval duration (12.50 and 13.65 days), pupal period (7.77 and 8.63 days) and total life period (25.27 and 26.46 days), was shortest on Taraori basmati and longest on HKR47, respectively. The larval survival was significantly higher (82.25%) on Taraori basmati than IR 64 (76.65%) and HKR 47 (76.09%) but was at par with HKR 126 (79.04%). The overall larval survival was maximum (82.90%) on 4th day followed by 7th day (77.90%) and 10th day (74.95%) of observation. The pupation and adult emergence was non-significant in the test cultivars of rice. The pupation was highest (76.66%) in Taraori basmati and lowest (71.60%) in HKR 47 and adult emergence was highest (95.39%) in Taraoti basmati and lowest (92.40%) in HKR 47. Sex ratio of male to female fluctuated between 1:1.26 (Taraori basmati) and 1:1.46 (HKR 47) showed preponderance of females.
