- Abstract
Man and art have been shaped together in the history of the world. A person who wants to make sense of his existence has watched nature, listened to it and transferred these experiences to others. The most archaic of these transmissions is sound. During a wide period of history until the invention of writing, customs, culture and even knowledge were transmitted from generation to generation only through sound. Since the existence of man, he has attached meanings to the voice and added it to every aspect of life. As a person develops, sound information has also been shaped and has started to transfer it to other people by recording it. Thus, music records, cassettes, CDs were born. At this point, the person who has shaped his existence with art throughout his history has started to benefit from design. From the earliest printed music recordings to the latest digital releases, cover design has played a crucial role in how music is perceived, marketed and consumed. Although the design is not included in the music, it has developed the music and made it visible all over the world. In this research, it is aimed to analyze the images contained in the graphic narratives revealed by indie music, the indicators used in the designs through semiotics based on album cover designs and poster designs belonging to musical groups. The artists oriented towards this goal were selected by the purposeful sample selection technique. First, the concept of design was discussed, and then the formation, history and music of Indie music culture were included. The effect of indie music on people and the design process with the art movements influenced by it have been examined. Finally, in line with these reviews, a fictional Indie music band was created and the album cover and concert poster were designed.
