- Abstract
A critique of the poem "Evangeline" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is presented. It discusses the poem's depiction of what is known as the Le Grand Dérangement, or the forced expulsion of French Acadians from Nova Scotia in 1755 by the British. The article's author contends that Longfellow manipulated the historical truth of Le Grand Dérangement.
