- Abstract
When considering the work of the Catalan author Enrique Vila-Matas, the theme of the memory of literature requires reflection upon the referential significance of intertextuality in his novels. This study of Paris ne finit jamais enables us to grasp that the act of rewriting, as well as the allusions to certain literary figures and postures in the novel, serve as a veritable interface between the subject-narrator and his reality. The literary imagination that takes shape in the novel entails a certain circularity in which the subject, evincing a relationship to reality mediated by the arts, also cultivates an implicit reflection upon literary history, a reflection through which the former is subjectively reforged.
