- Abstract
This article discusses a study which examined the effect of the amount of detail in a statement on the impact of that statement on judgments by participants of someone's guilt. The study interviewed participants who had the capacity to identify the person who lost computer files. Visitors to the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto, Canada, served as the participants. The study found maximum impact created by an intermediate level of detail when there was some possibility that the individual was lying.
