- Abstract
The article summarizes a dissertation written by the author on the subject of scholar Gershom Scholem and his relationship with his native and adopted countries, Germany and Palestine. Particular focus is given to Scholem's status as an immigrant and to his ambivalent feelings towards Germany. Details on Scholem's participation in the political, social, and intellectual life of both countries are presented. Other topics include Jewish mysticism, the Jewish Holocaust of 1939-1945, Scholem's travels in Europe, and Zionism.
