- Abstract
This article discusses the potential role of breastfeeding in modulating the risk of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) associated with COVID-19. The authors express dissatisfaction that breastfeeding has been overlooked as a potential risk factor in previous studies on MIS-C. They highlight the growing body of knowledge on the protective effects of breastfeeding against infections and the uncontrolled inflammatory response. The authors suggest that breastfeeding may inhibit inflammatory pathways that trigger MIS-C and emphasize the need for further research on the role of breastfeeding in the development of MIS-C in children with COVID-19.
